This coming year we will be rolling out a new Single Sign-on application. It is similar to Clever, it is called ClassLink. It too has a badging system for student login like Clever. ClassLink also offers teachers a badge for single sign-on. We are working to get all the applications you use in your classrooms added to it. More information and training will be coming out soon. Returning DCSD Technology

If you are retiring, transferring to another district or resigning there are a few tasks to complete in regards to tech that was given to you. Your laptop, and/or iPad will need to be left at the school with the principal or you can give it to the Technology department at the District office. There are a few housekeeping issues you need to take care of on both the iPad and Mac Laptop before turning them in. Click on the buttons below to find out what you need to do.

It's the end of the school year and soon you will be receiving a new laptop. Its essential that you backup your data so the transition to your new machine is as seamless as possible. Below are some ideas and information on how to make a backup of your important files.

There are many ways to backup your data. One of the most common ways is to use an external hard drive or thumb/USB drive. With an external hard drive you can drag and drop your files from your computer's hard drive right into the external drive.
Another method of backing up is to use a cloud service. Examples of these services include a personal google drive account, dropbox, iCloud, or microsoft onedrive account. There are also many others. They are easy to use and most have websites to help you with the transfer.
If you have data on an iPad you will need to sync your iPad to a personal iTunes/iCloud account to back it up. Explanation of how to do this is on the iPad page of the website for returning technology.

Alfred

This app is only for mac users, 😥 Windows users. Some of you may have used it before, but I just stumbled across it. If you have used Spotlight before on your Mac then you will be familiar with Alfred's features. Alfred is an alternative to Spotlight with more features. I have added it to Managed Software Center so you can install it on your Mac yourself. In case you don't remember what Managed Software Center is here is a picture of the app and you can find it in your Launchpad.

Windows 10 Apps

For us Windows 10 users in this district we can feel a little left out at times, due to all the Mac users. So here are some free apps I found that seem like real time savers. They both can be found in the Windows store. First up is QuickLook. When you are looking through your files and don't want to open every one to see what it is, just hit your space bar and QuickLook will open a preview version of the file so you can see what it is. It is also free so that part is nice. The second app is called Ditto. It saves your clip board or the items you have copied. You can set the number of copied items and how long you want to save them. Default settings is that it will save 500 items for 5 days. I have tested these items and they both seem to work really well.
